San Francisco
In January 2008 I took a road trip from Murrieta Ca to San Francisco. It was a one man trip but it was anything but lonely. The trip lasted 3 days and during that time period I was determined to capture shoots that could not be found on your normal ‘San Fran’ road trip. I spent half a day and one night in the actual city of San Francisco but the photographs that I have enjoyed most from that trip were taken at a little stop off the side of the 101. If I hadn’t needed gas so desperately, I would never have pulled over at this small dilapidated (and not a little bit scary) town. Who knew getting such shitty gas mileage would turn out to be so fortunate. =)

Great pics here! Love the black and white one of the train tracks reaching out into the distance. It’s amazing what you can stumble across totally by accident. Totally agree about the shitty gas mileage too. A couple of years ago and friend and I were driving to Vegas and ended up filling up with gas (for about the 20th time that day it seemed) and then decided to have a drive around the Mojave National Preserve – awesome place, totally recommended! I’m heading out to San Fran soon; bet there’s some great urbex to be had out there!

Thank you for the kind words Tom. I’m glad you enjoyed the pictures. I know exactly what you mean. Urban Exploration can be extremely satisfying and completely unexpected with endless possibilities to explore. I heard a fantastic quote somewhere along the lines as to the motto for Urban Exploration and I’ve really taken it to heart.
